THE UNIVERSITY
Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Kameshwarnagar, Darbhanga has at present 22 university Departments, 43 constituent college and 46 affiliated colleges spread over in 10602 sq of km of geographical area covering four districts in the Mithilanchal region of our Bihar State. It has been promoting learning and research in different faculties:- The pace of its all round development is being further accelerated through the team works of the present University administration led by its Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Professors S.K.Singh. Under his able leadership this has been able to regularize the sessions/examinations.
The university headquarters Darbhanga is well conducted to all the major cities of India by rail and road. The nearest airport is Patna. Sanction for flight from Darbhanga airport to four metro cities has been accorded.
UNIVERSITY DEPT OF HOME SCIENCE:
The university Department of Home-Science started functioning from September 1991 as per orders of the Honble Vice – Chancellor. Since then, this department is engaged in teaching and research. Dr. Shyama Choudhary, Dr. Sarojini Devi and Dr. Eesha Sinha have served this department as head of Department. At Present Dr. Nirmala Jha is serving the department as its head. Besides her 1. Asst. Prof. and 2.Guest Teachers are engaged in quality teaching and research work.
At present the department conducts MA Home Science (Food and Nutrition) two year of four semesters. National level seminar/ symposium are organized time to time in the department. The learned teachers of this university or of other universities deliver their lectures for the research scholars students and members of the faculty.
CENTRE FOR WOMEN’S STUDIES:
The centre for Women’s Studies was established during 2016-17, for conducting one year Post Graduate Certificate Course in Women Studies since then 3 batches of students have joined the course. 2 years Post Graduate Degree course in Women’s Studies has been approved by the University. Its approval from the state Govt. is awaited.
The University Department of Home-Science invites application for admission in one year Post Graduate Certificate course in Women’s studies.
NUMBER OF SEATS AND RESERVATION
During the current session 2016-17, maximum 40 seats in the Certificate course and a maximum of 60 seats in MA course are proposed to be admitted in this courses and the reservation will be in accordance with the existing rules of LN Mithila University.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
Qualification: For the certificate course-
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained at Graduate level and a 30 minutes written objective tests organized by the department. 10 students will be selected from the research scholar category.
Application Forms and Prospectus for the one year post graduate certificate course in Women’s Studies can be obtained from the University Department of Home-Science, hand to hand payment of Rs. 350/- in favour of PGCCWS, L.N.Mithila University Payable at Darbhanga on any working day between 5 th July, 2019 to 15 th July,2019.
Women’s Studies Centre of the university Department of Home Science shall impart higher education on issues related to women in the society particularly in this part of the country, a backward region with higher population density, higher Maternal Mortality Rate and lower Sex- Ration. There is no such centre in the region covering 21 district of north of Bihar. This proposal will fulfill the need of this type of centre for higher learning.
Women’s Studies Programmes are career oriented. They have wider career options and employability in teaching, healthcare, media and social sectors and in the various governments’ programmes for women.
